REVIEW: Palookaville Fine Foods, Avondale Estates

We have to admit, being a food critic is fun. But an evening at Palookaville Fine Foods made us remember just how much fun a simple meal could be. We eat at more than our share of fancy in-town places and Palookaville Fine Foods is just a casual eatery. But, we had such a fantastic meal and a great time, it was a review that I just couldn’t wait to write.

I cannot recall the last time I’d visited Avondale Estates, but this is really a very cool section of Atlanta. Decked out in a Tudor architectural style, Avondale Estate’s Palookaville Fine Foods seemed to fit right in. The place is retro from the décor, the signage, and the music.

Palookaville Fine Foods‘ flagship is their corndog. Now, if you’re like me and the last time you had a corndog was gagging one down in the school cafeteria, you are in for an eye-opening treat! I was happy just to order a Polish Kielbasa with sauerkraut, but I got in the spirit and ordered a Corleone which is an Italian Sausage corndog with the Pepper (spicy jalapeno) batter. Oh boy, I was in heaven! The sausage has its own kick, but the Pepper batter has that spicy Jalapeno bite also. Talk about a great way to kick off a meal!

I also got an order of Tater Tots, its so huge you might just be embarrassed to eat it all (but I did). The Polish Kielbasa with sauerkraut was crazy good, especially with the Spicy Dijon Mustard (on the table). Laurie, chose a salad with chicken, while Melanie got a foot long beef hot dog and a beef corn dog with onion rings to share.

Palookaville Fine Foods is a good time with food that you’ll enjoy time and time again. Guten appetit!

The Tudor Village is based on Stratford on Avon, hence Avondale… Alas, not Alpine…

    Thank you! I’ll correct that!
