Sweet Auburn Barbecue fits like a glove from the moment you walk in. There’s a really cool vibe of a neighborhood restaurant that’s coupled with a rocking beat of hipster music providing a contrast that hits home with us. For early on a Sunday evening, we were surprised at the crowd.

I’ve been a fan of Old Hickory House since my father used to take me to Georgia Tech games growing up. We’d stop by the Old Hickory House on Northside Drive (no longer exists), before every home game. There was also one in Dunwoody, but sadly that one has closed

When we arrived at Memphis BBQ Company, we had mixed feelings because there weren’t many cars in the parking lot, but by the time we left the place was packed! It was a late coming crowd, but enough of that – LET’S TALK BBQ! I originally found out about Memphis

It had just been a couple of days since our disappointing visit to Hometown BBQ. In continuing our support for Atlanta Downtown Restaurant Week, we wanted to head to Marietta Street and try Twin Smokers BBQ. Our quest for great BBQ is insatiable! Like most spots downtown, parking is limited.

    BBQ1 – Any Top 10 list without BBQ1 obviously isn’t a Top 10 list.

Greater Good BBQ on Roswell should be near the top of any list

I’ve eaten at all but two of the BBQ restaurants on your list.

Sorry, but none of them (as in NONE) comes close to JJ’s Rib Shack on Campbellton Rd. Only open on Friday’s & Saturday’s, the wait can sometimes be 1-1.5 hours before your order is ready. And people wait!!

  8. May 29, 2016 at 10:20 am

Charles, thanks for that glowing recommendation! I guess we’ll have to make our way down to JJ’s and check them out! -=Randy

Brian, We’ve been to Greater Good in Tucker. Good but not great. I’m guessing that you feel the Roswell location is better? Might have to check them out! Thanks for the comment! -=Randy

We’ve been to Community Q before years, nothing to rave about. Maybe we should revisit and give it another shot? Never made it out to Heirloom – we need to! Thanks. -=Randy

Hi – I’d love to try some of these places out. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Community Q – the ribs are incredible. I thought it would be at the top of your list – it has been at the top of one other similar list at least I’ve seen.

Tops on my list is JD’s Bar-B-Que in Woodstock and Acworth! They only use 100% wood to smoke everything. I love everything from the chopped pork to the beef brisket. I’ve tried some on your list but would recommend JD’s above them all.

Slope’s BBQ in Roswell has the best ribs and Brunswick stew around! It is locally owned and not only has great food…it is run by great people who give so much to the community! Give it a try!

Have you guys ever made it to Cabin Creek in Nicholson? We travel to try BBQ all over the state, and have yet to find anything comparable to Cabin Creeks ribs and chicken. Amazing! I would be interested to see if you guys can tell me anywhere else that has chicken like they do… Outta this world!!
