REVIEW: Hammocks Trading Company, Sandy Springs, North Fulton

Our regular readers know that Miss Melanie and I love seafood. If I ever retire, we are headed to the beach and plan on a diet of shrimp, scallops, and grouper while we enjoy many more sunsets together.

I was ready for some seafood, so we set sail for Hammocks Trading Company and loved the complimentary valet parking. We were seated right away, shown to our table, met our server, and soon had refreshments in hand.

We got started with an appetizer of a half a dozen grilled shrimp and the Mixed Fry, that includes calamari, grouper, shrimp, fried lemons, and peppers. The shrimp were HUGE and full of flavor both from the seasoning and the smoky grill. Really nice. The Mixed Fry was really a delight too and I like the chewy calamari even though Melanie doesn’t care for them. Watch for those peppers! They’re HOT!

We both got the Fried Seafood Platter. Melanie didn’t care for the cornmeal batter, but I really enjoyed mine. For her sides, she chose the Grilled Asparagus and Green Beans. I went with the Jalapeño Cornbread and the Old Bay Fries. I loved the cornbread because they had a lot more kick than I had expected. The Old Bay Fries a bit of a let down because they were just bag fries and only lightly seasoned with the Old Bay. Next time, I think we’ll have our food prepared grilled because we liked the flavor of the grilled shrimp so much!

Hammocks Trading Company is casual and comfortable, the food is good, and our server did a great job. Until our time to retire to the beach comes, Hammocks Trading Company does a good job of serving up some beaching cuisine. Guten appetit!

Its tasty. Melanie didn’t like the cornmeal breading but I loved it. It wasn’t heavy but I really prefer the grilled shrimp over the fried. Good stuff and priced right!
