Atlanta Food Critic Raves About Denny’s Restaurant

Denny’s has the self-proclaimed tagline of “America’s Diner” and breakfast is probably the meal that many Denny’s restaurants are most proud of. On this morning, I came to put that to the test and couldn’t believe the breakfast that I enjoyed.

I was greeted right away and shown to a magnificent dining room where I had my choice of tables. This was a weekday morning, but be forewarned – on any weekend morning Denny’s restaurants around the U.S. are packed with patrons just waiting to enjoy a fine breakfast.

I started my breakfast feast with an orange juice, it was mostly water but I could taste that subtle hint of orange though that just kicks off anyone’s morning. Next I enjoyed a Moon Over My Hammy (no folks, I’m not making this up) that is a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich on toast. What was especially interesting was the toast so greasy, I still had grease on my fingertips after attempting to eat this sandwich. The bread was just a little too much for me; but that thinly sliced ham, it was almost translucent, was just over the top.

Our regular readers know of my fondness for chicken sausage because of its reduced calories and fat content. I was particularly impressed that Denny’s offered chicken sausage, but hey, this is a pretty trendy place! The chicken sausage was prepared nicely – dry and bland. Once I had gagged that down, I moved on to the hash browns that I had prepared with onions and cheddar. If I had thought the toast was greasy, I was delighted when I found out just how greasy the hash browns were! I was in for a cleansing of epic proportions!

I had a great breakfast at Denny’s that morning but I ended up being late to the office after stopping by my cardiologist for a quick checkup. If you’re still reading, YES of course this was an April Fools Day prank. I really did eat at Denny’s, just another sacrifice I have made for our readers. Guten appetit!

DISCLAIMER: This is a satirical parody done purely in jest. Had this been an actual review, it wouldn’t have been at Denny’s in the first place, because its just not our style. My remarks were all in fun, and not meant to disparage the Denny’s restaurant chain or their employees.

    This is great! Love it!

I have to admit, this self proclaimed food snob (blame that on Atlanta where the best chefs with the best dishes in the world are!) has never been disappointed by Denny’s once! I have MANY fond late night memories with this eatery. I wrapped up my weekend nights at their Clifton Park, NY location more times than I can count and every single time the staff’s customer services was excellent! Ahhh… the younger days! And now that I’m back home in the Atlanta area, I have found myself NOT happy MANY, MANY times there hasn’t been a Denny’s up the road for a quick, tasty breakfast!

Linda, This wasn’t as horrible as I made it out to be, but certainly not my cup of tea. Breakfast is one of the my few meals that I am not a food snob, especially since I normally eat in the car (shame on me). Glad you enjoyed the post and thank you for the comment! -=Randy
