COOKING AT HOME: First Fresh Foods Chicken Sausage Tacos (video)
One of the great benefits of being a member of the Atlanta Food Bloggers Society is that occasionally we’ll get the opportunity to try out some great food. Such was the case when our First Fresh Foods Chicken Sausage arrived at our doorstep. For many years, we’ve become fond of chicken sausage because of the reduced calorie and fat content over pork sausage.
Now that the weather is starting to warm up, we like to cook on the grill any night we’re eating in. When our First Fresh Foods Chicken Sausage arrived, I couldn’t wait to get some of these bad boys onto a hot grill. You don’t have to cook them on the grill, you could just put them in a pan on the stove, but I really love the smoky flavor of the grill! I like to leave the sausage on for about ten minutes each side and then the final five minutes put the tortillas on a warming tray on the grill. Not too long though or they will get brittle.
Tacos are not something with a lot of culinary complexity. Some greens like shredded lettuce, salad or kale; spread some sour cream over the tortilla; put your cooked sausage links on there, you can always slice them into small pieces if you prefer; sprinkle some shredded cheese of your choosing; and add a little salsa, I like to heat mine first. If you crave heat, pop a few jalapeños in before you wrap it up to light up your life. Guten appetit!
