REVIEW: Community Smith, Midtown Atlanta, Fulton
We were on our way to the Alliance Theater one night this weekend and decided to try Community Smith from our list of 20 BEST ATLANTA RESTAURANTS TO VISIT IN 2016. It’s less than ten minutes from the theater but it’s a great choice when things are happening near Midtown Atlanta.
We were seated upon our arrival and shown to magnificent half circle booth that was so comfortable for our meal. I’d peeked at the menu online and there was no way I was leaving without getting the Crab Cake Bites for our appetizer. They are about the size of a golf ball, dusted with mozzarella and served with a spicy bourbon bacon jam that really sets this appetizer into the hemisphere.
We both wanted a small side salad before the meal but didn’t see one on the menu. When we asked our server, she confidently said she’d take care of that for us. Awesome!
The salads were simple but fresh and the mixed greens were perfect. Initially I had asked for Thousand Island but they didn’t have that, so I chose Bleu Cheese. Melanie went with the Ranch. When we got our salads though, we found both dressings to be pretty spicy. I enjoyed mine but it was far too hot for Melanie. When I spoke with our server she quickly offered to remake Melanie’s salad and brought her two new dressings on the side to try. Melanie found the Honey Basil to suit her and I loved the Herb Vinaigrette so much I finished the rest of my salad.
Melanie ordered the Poulet Rouge Chicken with brussel sprouts and the chose the Pan Seared Redfish with asparagus. Melanie loved her chicken saying it was seasoned well, tender and juicy. I cannot say enough good things about the Pan Seared Redfish. I loved the crunchy skin on the filet. The meat was thick and had a wonderful flavor. We shared an awesome meal and would have loved to linger longer but we had a show to get to!
At Community Smith the food was awesome, the service was fantastic and the restaurant was both upscale and comfortable. It’s a great choice for Midtown dining! Guten appetit!
