ROAD TRIP REVIEW: Sticky Fingers Ribhouse, Greenville SC

Greenville South Carolina is a perfect destination for a day trip getaway  from Atlanta. It’s got a vibrant downtown with plenty of restaurants to choose from. On this visit, we decided to try Sticky Fingers Ribhouse, right in the middle of downtown Greenville on Main Street.

We got started with the Fried Pickles that we both really enjoyed. They were plentiful and hot – right out of the fryer. It was a great start to our meal. Unfortunately, this is where things started to head south.

Melanie and I both ordered the combo plates – hers with ribs and chicken, mine with ribs and pulled pork. Melanie enjoyed her chicken stating that it was moist, delicious and full of that classic smoky flavor. My pulled pork though was just bland and tasteless. We both thought the ribs were dry and overdone. You can see pretty clearly in the picture below that the ribs below the sauce are very different in appearance from the sauce which looks congealed like the two met as an afterthought. This meal was a real disappointment.

In all honesty, we’ve been to Sticky Fingers before and, during those previous visits, have never had such a problem. I’m not sure if we just caught them on a bad day or what happened. It troubles us though when restaurants are unable to maintain consistency across multiple visits. Sounds like a quality control issue to me.

Greenville is perhaps one of our favorite getaway daytrip destinations from Atlanta. Its proximity to the ATL makes it an easy drive and the downtown Greenville area of town is simply fantastic. We’ll keep coming back! Guten appetit!

It would have been a much better choice for you”not” to try to enjoy food at a franchise.

So true and that is advice we normally follow! BUT, there were mitigating circumstances (as my attorney friends would say). #1 We don’t have Sticky Fingers in Atlanta. #2) Sticky Fingers is FROM South Carolina so although they have multiple locations, I don’t consider them a “big chain” like TGIF, O’Charleys, Applebee’s, Chili’s and the load of other places we refuse to eat at.

Thanks so much for the comment! I hope you continue reading! -=Randy

    That is the worse place
To eat in Greenville. This does not represent us very well. So many more places to eat and actually taste amazing, sorry not sure who was your taste tester but poorly picked place. This makes me hesitate to trust your credibility on restaurants. Sorry.

We pick places other visitors would pick. That’s the purpose of our road trip reviews. As far as credibility, it sounds like we accurately depicted this restaurant and you agree with us. We’re open to recommendations for future visits. Suggestions?

Curious…….with all the other wonderful eateries in Greenville, why Sticky Fingers? There are so many other unique dining opportunities, The Trappe Door, Tupelo Honey, Smoke on the Water just to name a few! I would be happy to send you a list;) I love Greenville (and no I do not live there) But love the downtown atmosphere.

We wanted something that tourists might choose. Smoke on the Water is one of our favorites! Keep reading, we’ll be back soon for more!
