REVIEW: Madison Chophouse Grille, Madison, Morgan County
Madison is about an hour drive east of Atlanta and is a treasure of Antebellum homes. Saved from Sherman’s army by a gentleman’s agreement, these beautiful homes represent some of the finest of Southern architecture. It’s a really cool little town just to look around and near the center is Madison Chophouse Grille.
We’ve been making trips to Madison Chophouse Grille for years. Its an easy drive and true Southern hospitality greets you upon your arrival. I dropped the ladies off at the door and they were seated with drinks by the time I had parked and walked in.
One thing we’ve always looked forward to is the brown bread service. Its always warm and served with a soft honey butter. One is not enough – ask for more!
This evening, Melanie skipped the opening course but Laurie chose a Garden Salad to begin the meal. The fresh greens, diced tomatoes, croutons and rich dressing made a great start to her meal. I began with a Tomato Basil Soup and I was shocked at how thick it was. When the weather gets cooler, I love soup and this hit the spot!
Laurie chose the Madison Meatloaf with mashed potatoes. There is an ample serving of meatloaf and our server said it is one of the most popular dishes.
Melanie selected the Hawaiian Chicken that consists of two grilled chicken breasts, a slice of ham and slices of pineapple covered with a Teriyaki glaze along with mashed potatoes and green beans. She enjoyed the chicken and couldn’t even finish it and it made a nice lunch the next day.
I had the Grilled Pork Chops with mashed potatoes and gravy. The pork was cooked nicely and well seasoned. It really made a nice meal. We enjoyed the potatoes had a tad too much garlic in them for our tastes. The gravy was awesome so definitely ask for it!
You cannot say NO to Madison Chophouse Grille homemade desserts. We couldn’t decide and ended up getting two desserts to share among the table. The Caramel Cheesecake could melt in your mouth! The Brownie Sundae was a favorite for Melanie and Laurie and a perfect way to end the meal.
Madison is a fun day trip for Atlantans and Madison Chophouse Grille is an ideal location for a solid meal while visiting. It’s also used by many to break up the trip to Athens on game day so plan accordingly. Guten appetit!
