I love the holidays! I especially look forward to celebrating with the people I spend 40 hours (or more) each work week and I love it when we can all come together for a holiday meal. With a small company, we can all get together. In larger organizations, your holiday celebration might be limited to just your group or department.

Some years we’ll go out to eat. Some years we’ll do pot luck. This year we decided to cater in with J.R.’s Log House. We made this decision primarily because they were the only potential vendor who would server a Thanksgiving meal hot. Everyone else would bring it, but you’d have to heat it up and without an oven in the office, it didn’t make sense. J.R.’s Log House has a special holiday catering menu where they provide smoked turkey and all the fixings just about $10/person. For that kind of price, we weren’t expecting a lot and our expectations were met.

The smoked turkey was really pretty good. It had a strong smoky flavor and although we were concerned that there was going to be enough for everyone, we all had our fill with just a little left over. The sides were lackluster, good but not great and we certainly didn’t have any complaints. The dessert was peach cobbler and it was done pretty well.

Is this something that we’ll do again? Probably not. Overall, it was good but nothing any of us would want to repeat. For $10 each though, you get a pretty decent meal. If you like Picadilly Cafeteria, you might really enjoy it. If you don’t, we think you should pass. Guten appetit!
