ROAD TRIP: Triple J Steak & Seafood, Panama City Beach, Florida
After such a wonderful evening the night before at Firefly, we knew it’d be hard to top. We wanted some place casual but we didn’t want to visit just any shrimp shack either. Jason Crawford from Covington, made a suggestion on Facebook that we try Triple J Steak & Seafood and it looked like it’d be the perfect fit for that night.
We were seated right away, met our server and soon had our drinks. We looked over the menu and we decided on the Fisherman’s Platter. Melanie was able to substitute the scallops for extra shrimp and we both chose the potatoes au gratin. We began our meal with a salad. Melanie chose the Wedge Salad with both the Southwestern Ranch and Bleu Cheese dressing. I opted for my standard House Salad with Thousand Island dressing.
We decided to begin our meal with an appetizer of Fried Pickles. The first thing I noticed was they were sliced rather than like chips like we normally see. The batter adhered well to the pickle and they were delicious. The Southwestern dressing that came with it, was perfect and not too spicy – even for Melanie.
Our salads arrived just as we were finishing the appetizer, but we were careful not to eat too much salad for fear of not being able to adequately enjoy our main course. My House Salad had fresh diced tomato, cucumbers and onions and was sprinkled with grated cheese.
The Fisherman’s Platter is the best value at Panama City Beach. The dish consists of a large crab cake, a nice piece of grouper, very large shrimp and some of the biggest scallops I’d seen in a long time. The meal was well seasoned and had a delicious flavor. We really liked the Potatoes Au Gratin but let me warn you – this is A LOT of food.
When it comes to bang for the buck, Triple J Steak & Seafood delivers. The food quality was superior to most that we’ve come across, making Triple J Steak & Seafood a MUST-VISIT on our list of best Panama City Beach restaurants. Guten appetit!
