ROAD TRIP: Marlin Monroe’s, Tybee Island GA

Tybee Island is one of our favorite places on the planet! It’s casual, laid back atmosphere is in direct contrast with our normal hectic Atlanta lives and we find this a place that we can just come and relax. Marlin Monroe’s exemplifies the best of Tybee Island’s characteristics and we found it to be a super place just to relax with a fantastic oceanfront view.

We love coming to Tybee Island in the off-season although it was particularly warm, in the 70s, on this weekend. It hadn’t been too long since we’d eaten at The Pirate’s House but after walking along the beach I was not only thirsty but a little hungry as well. Wanting to continue my tradition of enjoying the local seafood, I ordered the Steamed Shrimp Platter which comes with corn-on-the-cob  and cole slaw.

The shrimp were large and still hot from cooking when they arrived at our table. I LOVE, LOVE , LOVE peel and eat shrimp and these were dynamite. I might also add that at $15 they were priced right and you received a decent portion size for your money. The corn-on-the-cob was very good and not over-cooked (which is often the case when served like this). The cole slaw though was disappointing and not worth the trouble.

I wish we had more time to relax on the deck at Marlin Monroe’s as we found it be to a great place to sit and enjoy the afternoon. When you are on Tybee Island, come hang out at Marlin Monroe’s and you won’t leave hungry! Guten appetit!
