Don Tello’s Tex Mex Grill, Conyers GA

This was a day I hadn’t planned to be in Conyers, it just kind of happened. I want to go by and see my good friend and attorney, Gordon Hall, and it’s been at least a year since we’ve been able to do lunch because of both of our busy schedules. When he asked where I wanted to go I couldn’t yell “MEXICAN” fast enough (ever since Melanie has NOT be wanting to eat Mexican I jump at the chance when she’s not around). We had a long-standing place that we would go to in the past, but Gordon moved his office a few months ago to be closer to the courthouse and he said he had a new place.

First and foremost, Don Tello’s Tex Mex Grill is BIG! They have a huge bar area packed with HDTVs, a very large covered outside patio and a huge dining room.

We were greeted and seated immediately and they had a fairly good lunch crowd going. I chose my perennial favorite for Mexican which is the Speedy Gonzales. Gordon chose the same but opted for an additional taco (unlike me, he’s just a little guy).

Lunch was really, really fantastic! The flavor was rich and meaty and uncharacteristic of your run-of-the-mill Americanized Mexican place that seems to be on every other corner. The cheese was light and fresh. The sauces were a perfect compliment to the meal.

I love it when I find a diamond in the rough and Don Tello’s Tex Mex Grill is a treasure in the sea of mediocrity that is Conyers dining choices. Go here and you can’t go wrong! Guten appetit!

DISCLOSURE: My buddy Gordon caught the tab for this meal because he’s it was his turn. His decision to treat me did not influence my review nor does he have any connection with the restaurant other than being a regular customer.

Did you really disclose the fact that your buddy grabbed the tab? You don’t write for the new york times. Nobody wants to know who paid for your lunch, and since these aren’t real reviews anyway their isn’t a single person out there worried about you having some moral delima about who pays for your big macs and corn dogs.

Yes, Steve. we have a policy to ALWAYS pay for our meals. If we deviate from that I want to be fully transparent with that. I know, it some cases it may seem like overkill but I would rather have that occur than for someone to think I am not being fully on the up and up.
