ROAD TRIP: City Bakery Café, Asheville NC

One of the things that I simply LOVE about Asheville is how incredibly laid back the place is yet it maintains this trendy, vibrant, urban feel. City Bakery Café brings it all together along with some great food and wraps it up into an awesome package!

I guess what hit me first is how roomy and open City Bakery Café is. Many of the places we’ve visited have been “close”. Not so much to make us uncomfortable but when we came into this restaurant, we noticed a difference.

The next thing that struck me was the friendliness of the staff and how knowledgeable they were. Again, not an uncommon experience in Asheville (you really gotta LOVE this town!).

I had the Rueben on white with a side of Tomato Basil soup. It could’ve stood a little more sauerkraut and otherwise was fabulous! The soup was really spectacular and I loved how it was filled with tomato chunks. Melanie had a chicken Panini and chips and she thought it was out of this world! (NOTE the bite taken our before I could get the picture taken!)

City Bakery Café is a real gem and smack near the center of downtown Asheville so there is absolutely ZERO excuse for not making your way here when you come to Asheville. Guten appetit!
