Yes, even food critics celebrate their anniversary and tonight was our night! A cool front had just come in and I was think STEAK so loud I was about to SCREAM! Melanie is always up for Longhorn’s but I really wanted to try something different but wasn’t willing to drive far (we both spend about 10 hours in the car, Monday through Friday). And so we decided on Ted’s Montanta Grill.
Coming to Ted’s on Friday or Saturday night is an act of foolishness but Thursday proved to be the right time. We were shown to our table promptly and had the good fortune of meeting our server, Jackie, who took wonderful care of us throughout the meal.
We started out with salads and “good” does not even begin to describe them. Served with mixed greens and some very good dressings (are they homemade?) they really kicked things off to a great start.
Speaking of “start”, if you haven’t been to Ted’s before this may strike you as odd… they serve sliced cucumbers that are tangy and a little salty. They have a little sour bite but I’m thinking… WHY? Out of all the things you could serve… why this? I mean I’m glad it’s not peanuts, right? And it IS original, but still… fried pickles, maybe? Food for thought (pun intended).
Our dinners soon arrived. I chose the Beef Filet done medium with garlic mashed potatoes and parmesan creamed spinach for my sides.
I cut this open so you could see how perfectly done this piece of meat was. AWESOME! It was like butter! This steak, which rivaled anything at twice the cost, was truly a feast and prepared absolutely perfect.
Melanie also chose the beef filet but got hers done medium well, topped with bleu cheese and chose with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus for her sides.
The steak was done very nicely. There were still a couple of pieces which were a little too rare for her which tasted just fine to me. 😉
The biscuits served with the meal were also very nice but I could’ve used one more. Serving just one was almost unfair.
We had a wonderful meal and then sat for a while and talked about what a great year this past year had been. It just keeps getting better!
Ted’s Montana Grill is not only great food and excellent service, they give you a pretty good bang for the buck too! We got out of there for right around $60 (with gratuity) and I couldn’t help but think of all the places where we’ve dropped $100 and haven’t enjoyed it as much.
Ted’s Montana Grill is a definite MUST SEE on your list of Atlanta dining. Guten appetit!
