ROAD TRIP! Scooters, Dillard GA
We had taken a day trip on Saturday to head to the North Carolina mountains to visit some small towns and do a little shopping and sightseeing. We also found a chance to visit with some friends of ours who were spending the long holiday weekend at their cabin just south of Franklin NC. They recommended we stop at Scooters on our way back to Atlanta.
When we pulled up, we knew it must be good – the place was packed. However, we were seated right away and before long we had drinks and were looking over the menu.
Scooters looked new, like they had just opened recently. The woody decor fits in well with the spirit of the mountains and it’s easy to feel comfortable dining there in it’s relaxed atmosphere.
We ordered the fried pickles (yes, I know… we’re on a roll, right?) mainly because they said they had a jalapeno ranch to accompany it which I was just dying to try. Yes, It was great.
We both ordered the Angus burgers and they were great. The only complaint we had was the time it took to be served. A server confided in us that a cook had walked off the job and the owner was pitching in trying to keep up the pace in the kitchen but they were falling behind none the less.
In any case, before leaving for Atlanta we decided we should try the peach cobbler and we weren’t disappointed.
If you’re in the mountains and going through Dillard, Scooters is worth a try.
