We came to Hudson Grille on a Sunday evening and although the lot was packed, there was plenty of room in the dining room. We also noted the restaurant is rather large, has private dining spaces and can seat a great number of people. Most of the patrons it seemed were there to enjoy the beginning of the football season on the Hudson Grille’s many HDTVs.
Dominique was our server and he took wonderful care of us throughout the meal. We started out with the homemade pretzel sticks that come with horseradish mustard sauce and queso dipping sauce. Word of caution: the menu doesn’t indicate that the queso has jalapeno in it so there’s an unexpected kick in there. It must not have been too bad though because Melanie tolerated it quite well. You actually get a nice basket full but, alas, when I took this picture there was only ONE left. hey, I DID say they were good!
Melanie ordered the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with onion rings and it was a disappointment all the way around. Although the sandwich contained onion and peppers, the meat did not contain the flavor of it. Boring! The onion rings were equally unenthusiastic as we predicted they were probably from a bag rather than homemade. Edible but NOT enjoyable.
I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and I asked for mine grilled and blackened. I also asked for a side of the chipotle mayo along with the side of ranch and mixed the two together for a southwestern dipping sauce that was out of this world. The wrap was great and held together wonderfully (one of my wrap pet peeves).
I also ordered potato salad for my side. I have been on a mission to find some decent potato salad this weekend and I struck gold at the Hudson Grille. This stuff was OFF THE CHAIN!
While we had a mixed experience this time at the Hudson Grille, we still decided that this is a MUST TRY if you’re around Brookhaven. Guten appetit!
