Atlanta Restaurant Reviews

Brick Store Pub, Decatur, GA

IMAG0630

Brick Store Pub site just east of the old DeKalb County Courthouse among groups of equally trendy shops and restaurants but what makes this restaurant stand out is the old world feel and personal service by it’s staff.

Another standout feature of Brick Store Pub is it’s commitment to serving organic, locally grown food. If that is the “secret sauce” then everybody should be doing this because we found Brick Store Pub to be a delightful discovery and a true value.

Everything within the restaurant makes you feel as if you’ve just taken a short trip to the other side of the pond, except perhaps for the many beautifully painted skateboards which adorn the walls. Don’t ask me why, but even this works. A trip to Brick Store Pub is just plain fun!

We were seated right away and had our drinks in due time. The first thing that we thought was very unique and quite delightful was the menu. A wooden back and a leather cover bound pages that looked and read as if you had stepped back in time. It was really very different and started our meal off to a charming beginning.

We progressed to a appetizer of cured ham served with a hot, spicy horseradish mustard and gouda cheese served with blackberry jam and bread. The flavor of each was so good! You simply CANNOT skip past the appetizer!

Next, we each had salads with our meals. The choices of dressings served with the meals is eclectic. None of the standard fare – ranch, thousand island or bleu cheese here. Most are some type of vinaigrette. I selected the Sun-Baked Tomato vinaigrette while Melanie had the Balsamic vinaigrette. We’re still of the opinion a “lowest common denominator”  such as ranch should be available.

I ordered the Shepherd’s Daughter Pie while Melanie had the Chicken Tenders. The pie was quite delicious although the portion size left me longing for more. Melanie’s chicken was slightly over-cooked leaving it dry and tough. The home-made fries, and regular readers know how we are on the lookout for these, were TOTALLY ADDICTIVE!

We had a wonderful time at Brick Store Pub! It’s unique setting, great prices, flavorful food, along with the excellent service from it’s friendly staff, make Brick Store Pub a MUST SEE on your list of Atlanta dining. Guten appetit!
