Atlanta Restaurant Reviews

Sperata, Lawrenceville, GA

It was Friday with Shawn Mullins playing on the Square in Lawrenceville. I had just come from work. Melanie and I were both starving. The restaurant we were going to choose had a 1hr 45min – 2 hr wait. Sperata was able to seat us right away. THAT should have been our first clue! It went down hill from there.

When we were seated, we were told they had no menus left. We would have to wait until other diners were through looking at the menus before we could. Yes, they were full. The problem is… this is when restaurant professionals shine in their duties. Sperata did not. It looked like chaos. If I hadn’t know any better I would have thought the kitchen was on fire.

Service was marginal. Although I think our server was trying, but she was hindered trying to help out other servers. One poor guy lost a party of eight who claimed to have been there for over an hour and left still waiting for their entrees to be served.

Yes, we were concerned. Our server brought bread (rolls) late. They were awful. Store bought from Publix would have been far better. The only positive was the garlic butter.

Surprisingly, after a short 45 minutes after entering the restaurant – WE WERE FINALLY SERVED! Yes, folks – we couldn’t have been happier if we’d won the lottery.

The prices and atmosphere screams out fine dining but let me assure you it is a not-so-cheap imitation. My filet was unimpressive, the vegetable were bordering on uncooked and potato portions were tiny. C’mon people – this stuff is cheap. People pay a lot of money for this food and to be skimpy on portions is just silly.

I’m not even going to go into all of the smaller problems. I’ll let them fix the bigger problems first.

This is simple – don’t go there. It’s a rip-off.

For some reason, this blog entry is posted to the Urbanspoon page for La Dolce Vita in Athens, Georgia. This is rather misleading–please attempt to remove it.

Thanks for brining that to my attention. It’s fixed now.

Actually, it’s still showing up on Urbanspoon as being a negative review for La Dolce Vita in Athens. That’s unfair to them.

This is still posted to La Dolce Vita, and the first thing one sees is that they don’t have enough menus. La Dolce Vita is delightful; please try one more time to remove it.

It’s an error on Urbanspoon. I’ll bring that to their attention. Thanks.
