Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Mall of Georgia, Buford, GA
Great food, great service, great value – that’s how I sum up our recent visit to Romano’s Macaroni Grill.
We arrived early for dinner and were seated promptly. Our server was simply outstanding. We had to try the raspberry flavored iced tea and it was really nice with a hint of flavor that was not overpowering.
I ordered the Penne Rustica while Melanie chose the Carmela’s Chicken Rigatoni with the marsala sauce.
After some fresh-cooked bread, with a saucer of olive oil to dip it in, our salads were served and they were really awesome. Melanie loves the blue cheese and this stuff was good! I had the Caesar salad and it was equally delicious.
The serving of the entrees was well-timed (one of our pet peeves) and we began to eat our meals when a woman broke out in song. Yes, just another restaurant birthday tradition but this is a little different. A single singer sang “Happy Birthday” in Italian with an opera style. It was an overwhelming performance and very under-appreciated by her audience. It’s just another one of those things that makes Macaroni Grill a unique dining experience.
Melanie found her entrée was a bit dry and didn’t care much for the marsala sauce (made with white wine) anyway so she switched to asiago sauce. My Penne Rustica was initially deceiving. When it was presented, I felt it was a very small portion. My mind was quickly changed and I soon realized I couldn’t finish it all. By the time I left, I was miserable. The food was great – I just ate TOO MUCH! Fortunately (or not) with the Mall close by, we had a chance to walk some of that off and get some early Christmas shopping in and I began to feel much better as time went on.
Overall, we have to give high marks on this dining experience and in addition to the great food and excellent service we also should add this is an excellent value.
